Alasdair Gold has spoken on the hold-up of Tottenham Hotspur’s announcement of the right wing-back Djed Spence.

The deal is complete, according to Gold, but will not be announced until Monday, as the journalist stated on Football London, saying: “The wing-back has completed his medical and even undertaken his media duties with his new club and with that paperwork the last thing to be signed off there is a chance his signing may not be announced until at some point on Monday.”

With that being the case, Spurs fans will just need a little bit more patience, before finally seeing what has been a long-winded transfer saga come to an end before the start of the Premier League campaign next month – despite photos of him emerging from Hotspur Way.

The summer, as a whole, has been a fairly busy one for those at Spurs. When it comes to arrivals, Fraser Forster, Richarlison, Yves Bissouma, Clement Lenglet, and Ivan Perisic have all walked through the door for a combined fee of £78.48 million.

With so many arrivals, Antonio Conte will hope to aim higher than last season at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and maybe finally secure the club some much-needed silverware. They’ve certainly added the depth to get their hands on a trophy, it must be said.

TIF Thoughts on Djed Spence…

Spurs fans will be hoping that Spence is worth the wait, given just how long the deal has taken this summer. The wing-back arrives after impressing last season in the Championship, where he was part of Nottingham Forest’s play-off winning side, before heading back to parent club Middlesbrough.

The numbers certainly suggest that Spurs are getting a more than capable player, too. Last season, Spence had a tackle success rate of 75%, whilst attempting 89 tackles, with 67 of those successful. With the deal set to be announced, Spurs fans can finally anticipate Spence’s arrival.
