Tottenham Hotspur are not interested in potentially bringing in the Sevilla defender Jules Kounde this summer.
This has been clarified by the reliable Spurs correspondent Alasdair Gold who has been speaking on his YouTube channel on the latest transfer news.
There have been reports emerging this week claiming Spurs are now eyeing the French centre-back as a potential addition to Antonio Conte’s backline.
Spurs’ London rivals, Chelsea, have also been linked with the 23-year-old, however, Barcelona are also being strongly linked with the defender.
Nevertheless, with Spurs now looking set to add another weapon to their defence in Djed Spence, Gold played down the reports of Kounde potentially moving to north London:
(1:09:00) “Jules Kounde, I’ve seen some links with him told there’s no truth in links to him whatsoever for Spurs. ”
TIF Thoughts on Gold’s comments…
Kounde is a player who is clearly receiving a lot of interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs and is being valued at £76m, according to reports.
Do Spurs need another CB this summer?
Yes
No
However, the Frenchman typically operates from the right side of the two centre-backs which is an area in which Spurs do not need to spend over £70m on – or in fact any money – with Cristian Romero proving to be a huge addition last summer.
Spurs were reportedly looking to spend big on a left-sided centre-back this summer in Alessandro Bastoni or Josko Gvardiol, but having failed to land either, we think Spurs should resist the temptation to splash out on someone they don’t really need.
