Journalist Lyall Thomas has claimed that Nottingham Forest transfer target Nicolas Tagliafico for £5 million would be a bargain.

There have been reports stating that newly promoted to the Premier League Nottingham Forest are interested in signing Nicolas Tagliafico this summer, as they look to improve their squad before the new season starts in hope that they can remain in the top flight.

Tagliafico saw his game time limited last season for Ajax, he featured 22 times in the Eredivisie where he scored two goals and registered two assists, whilst also making three appearances in the Champions League for the Dutch side.

Forest have made three signings already this summer, Dean Henderson (on loan), Taiwo Awoniyi, and Giulian Biancone, but they might be keen to bring in some more new faces before the season starts.

With Forest being linked to Tagliafico, Thomas took to Twitter and claimed that £5 million for him would be a bargain for any club if they were to get him for that price this summer.

“For any Champions League club, at €5m, by the way, Tagliafico presents a bargain in my view,” Thomas said.

TIF Thoughts on Thomas’s comments…

Forest gained promotion to the Premier League last season after they won the play-off final against Huddersfield. However, they have lost Djed Spence who returned to Middlesbrough and he looks like he will sign for Tottenham Hotspur, so Forest will need to bring in more new talent, in an attempt to deal with life without the English wing-back.

Tagliafico would be a great signing for Forest if they could get him in the door this summer because he would join with a wealth of experience playing at the highest level, he has made 115 appearances in the Eredivisie for Ajax and has made 25 appearances in the Champions League for his side as well.
