Craig Hope, who has been speaking on Instagram, believes that Elliot Anderson may now stay with Newcastle United.

It has been reported that several Championship clubs are waiting for the chance to snap-up Newcastle youngster Anderson on loan this season, however, after featuring in all of the Magpies’ friendlies, his future now seems unclear.

Anderson was a second-half substitute in Newcastle’s latest friendly defeat against Mainz, however, Hope has claimed that he was impressive once again, which has seen the youngster talk about his hope of remaining with the first team squad this season.

Hope spoke about what he saw from Anderson out in Austria as well as what the future holds for him.

(0:46) “Anderson was a positive and interestingly, we asked Eddie Howe about him afterwards and he said, we haven’t made our minds up yet in terms of whether he goes out on loan or whether he stays with the team.

Should Howe keep Anderson at Newcastle?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

“So I think that one is one to watch the fact that Anderson wouldn’t take up a squad place and I’ve said this before, I think if he continues to play the way he does, and it could be dependent on who or who doesn’t come in, I think Anderson might just stay around for that for the first half of the season. An interesting one to watch develop on that score.”

TIF Thoughts on Anderson’s future…

The youngster very much impressed last season in League Two helping Bristol Rovers earn promotion with 13 goal involvements in just 20 league starts, but the step-up into the Premier League would be a huge one.

How well do you remember Newcastle's January transfer window? An easy one to start with: where did Newcastle sign Bruno Guimaraes from?

However, if he continues to star and impress both Eddie Howe and journalists within the Newcastle scene then the thought of him featuring prominently at least in the first half of the season becomes more of a real possibility, which would be great for Anderson and Newcastle fans to see one of their own come through the ranks and turn out in the league.
