Fabrizio Romano has claimed on the Wondergoal podcast that Newcastle United have got their transfer strategy correct.
Since the takeover of Newcastle by PIF, the Magpies have been linked with high-profile moves for the likes of Neymar and Gareth Bale, however, the reality of their transfer business has been far from that, with players such as Dan Burn and Matt Targett becoming hits on Tyneside.
Eddie Howe has recently spoken about how Newcastle need to target the right players in the transfer market after he watched his side lose their first pre-season match of the summer.
Romano has praised Newcastle and PIF for the way they’ve approached the transfer market.
He said: “I still go with my opinion on Newcastle, I think people were expecting last September when they had the takeover of the new owners, Newcastle spending money on maybe old players with big names, with big salaries, and expecting these kinds of moves for Newcastle.

It has been impressive how Newcastle have handled their business as they held off paying a premium price for Sven Botman in January, only to then rekindle their interest this summer – and it seems patience was a virtue as they managed to land their top target.
Newcastle appear to be sticking to their guns in bringing in younger players who can grow with the club as Romano alluded to above, as they reportedly hold an interest in Alan Virginius and also tried to sign Hugo Ekitike.
