Dean Jones has claimed on the Chasing Green Arrows YouTube channel that Eddie Howe is nowhere near the exit door at Newcastle United.

When PIF became owners of Newcastle, their first big decision was to sack Steve Bruce and replace him with current manager Howe, who proved to be an inspired choice as he led the club to an 11th place finish last season.

Despite Howe’s heroics of leading a side without a single win to their name when he took over to mid-table safety, a claim appearing from Roma-based outlet Giallorossi.net (via Sport Witness) has suggested that PIF have been looking at potential managers such as Jose Mourinho.

Jones, however, doesn’t believe that Howe is anywhere near being replaced by Newcastle.

He said: “Let’s be clear, Eddie Howe is nowhere near losing his job at Newcastle. They’ve given him full backing, he’s getting a say in transfers, which is a key sign that they trust him; they liked what he brought together.

Is Howe the right man for Newcastle?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

“They trusted him on a couple of signings like Dan Burn and they paid off, so Eddie Howe’s not actually going anywhere.”

TIF Thoughts on Howe’s position…

It would be one of the more bizarre decisions of the Premier League era for PIF to sack Howe in pre-season or even early into the new campaign if results aren’t overly positive given how well he’s galvanised the squad and the city in just a few months.

How well do you remember Newcastle's January transfer window? An easy one to start with: where did Newcastle sign Bruno Guimaraes from?

Such is the work that Howe’s put into the squad and how the players have reacted, demand for season tickets and pre-season tickets have never been higher in the Premier League era on Tyneside, with thousands virtually queueing for the chance to see their team play, so sacking the manager that’s brought all of that excitement together would be madness.
