Journalist Dean Jones has claimed on the Chasing Green Arrows YouTube channel that PIF are now looking to improve two key areas of Newcastle United’s squad.

The Magpies have had a solid transfer window thus far, managing to add the likes of Matt Targett, Nick Pope and Sven Botman to their first-team ranks, however, they will have to bolster the attacking department if Eddie Howe is to take them to the next level.

Despite only starting 16 league games last season, Callum Wilson finished the campaign as the club’s top scorer for the second year running, so it’s no surprise that Newcastle reportedly hold an interest in players such as Armando Broja, Amine Gouiri and Moussa Diaby.

And Jones recently offered a hint into what the Toon’s next pieces of transfer business may look like, saying: “You look over at Newcastle, they need a centre-forward, they’re looking at getting a wide forward – both of those are going to be big, big names, too.”

TIF Thoughts on Newcastle summer business…

Newcastle have been linked with some top attacking talents this summer such as Hugo Ekitike – who now appears close to joining Paris Saint-Germain – as well as Diaby, with the French winger having a £60m price tag on his head after a stunning campaign out in the Bundesliga last term, managing to register 13 goals and 12 assists.

However, Newcastle will have to be wary of Financial Fair Play regulations as they don’t want to end up like Everton, who have been struggling to balance the books for 12 months now, especially with the Magpies having already splurged over £50m while only managing to sell Freddie Woodman to Preston North End.
