Newcastle United could make a potential move this summer for Watford striker Emmanuel Dennis in the coming weeks.
This has been suggested by journalist Ben Jacobs, who has been addressing Dan Ashworth’s search for a new striker whilst speaking on the NUFC Matters YouTube channel.
Despite adding a promising young player at centre-back this summer in the £33.3m signing of Sven Botman, the Toon are experiencing issues in finding a new forward.
And it has mainly stemmed from their failure to sign Frenchman Hugo Ekitike, who has now snubbed a move to Tyneside and decided to join Paris Saint-Germain.
With Callum Wilson and Chris Wood seemingly not providing Eddie Howe with confidence going into the new season, Jacobs has suggested Dennis could be a player to watch out for.
He said: “I think that there’s a few that are realistic – Maxwel Cornet might still be one of them and Emmanuel Dennis is another, and I think of those two, the latter could take really well to Newcastle United.
“So that is one to just keep an eye on over the course of the next couple of weeks because I think that Dennis, in particular, will leave Watford for somewhere.”

Dennis certainly caught the attention during the 2021/22 campaign with the Hornets, having proved to be one of their few bright sparks in a dismal campaign.

The Nigerian, who labelled himself as a ‘baller’, was able to provide a return of 10 goals and six assists in the Premier League, however, there may be some question marks over his consistency, having only scored twice after the turn of the year (via Transfermarkt).
He was actually more prolific than Armando Broja – linked with a big-money move to West Ham United – in the Premier League last season, with a 17% goal conversion rate compared to the Albanian’s 13%.
But while playing for a better side like Newcastle, there may be optimism that Dennis could provide a more regular goalscoring output, with former Watford manager Claudio Ranieri labelling him “a very talented player“.
