Dominic Scurr has been left stunned by the latest image to emerge from outside of Newcastle United’s stadium.

The Magpies are set to play two friendlies at St James’ Park this summer, with the games on back-to-back days, allowing fans to purchase a two-day ticket for a reduced price, and this, as well as how well the Magpies finished last season, has created a surge in demand.

It appears that the demand for season tickets, which saw over 30,000 people wait in a virtual queue, has now spread to the pre-season friendly ticket sale, with a large queue snaking past down Alan Shearer’s statue all the way from the box office.

Scurr has very much been left impressed and slightly shocked by the demand for these tickets, with many fans queueing up early on Tuesday morning.

TIF Thoughts on ticket demand…

It has been quite the turnaround at St James’ Park over the last few months and years as Newcastle have gone from a club that were having to give away season tickets due to a severe lack of demand, to thousands now unable to purchase one or even get to close to doing so.

How well do you remember Newcastle's January transfer window? An easy one to start with: where did Newcastle sign Bruno Guimaraes from?

However, having people queue early on a Tuesday morning both online and in person for some pre-season friendlies that mean very little in the grand scheme of things is a sign of positive things to come on Tyneside for many years.
