Newcastle United may now have had their path cleared to make a move for Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca this summer.

According to Pete Graves, who was speaking on the Transfer Talk podcast, due to developments at other clubs, Scamacca may now be available for Newcastle to pursue.

It is believed West Ham United were showing a serious interest in the Italian striker, however, they are now closing in on a deal to land Chelsea’s Armando Broja.

And the Toon are believed to hold an interest in the 23-year-old, who the Hammers reportedly offered £40m for in the last week.

Having missed out on Hugo Ekitike and now potentially Broja, Graves feels there is an opportunity available for the Toon to close in on the Italian.

“There are players on the list. We know that they’ve been linked with Broja – I think there’s an interest there. I think Scamacca is another one in Italy.

“I wonder if West Ham sign one of those, whether Newcastle might go for the other one. That’d be fascinating to see.”

TIF Thoughts on Graves’ comments…

The Toon are in desperate need for a young striker who can provide Callum Wilson with both backup and competition for the starting spot in the starting XI.

Would Scamacca be a good addition?

Yes

No

No

And Scamacca – hailed as ‘incredible’ by Alessio Dionisi – is certainly a player who has caught the attention of Premier League clubs this summer, with Manchester United also said to be interested in the Italian.

So if the Toon want to avoid losing out on yet another striker this summer, perhaps they need to move quickly for Scamacca if he is the man they feel is right for the job.
