Armando Broja has become Newcastle United’s number-one attacking target this summer, with a number of arrivals still expected on Tyneside.

Journalist Ben Jacobs has told Steve Wraith just this on the NUFC Matters YouTube channel, with the pair discussing all things transfer-related.

It was a difficult campaign for the Toon up top last year, with Callum Wilson suffering another long-term injury and Chris Wood failing to hit the ground running after his January move.

This is perhaps why Newcastle are just one of the sides being linked with a potential move for the Chelsea youngster, with both Everton and West Ham United also credited with interest.

With a reported valuation in the region of £30m or a potential loan on the cards, Jacobs believes the Toon now have their eyes set on the Albanian striker.

He said: “Broja, I think, at the moment, is the main attacking target. There’s sort of wind from the Newcastle end that they may sign two, or at a maximum three – and one of them might be a loan deal.

“And I think that’s planning for the fact that Broja could still be made available for a possible loan.”

TIF Thoughts on Jacobs’ comments…

Those interested in Broja will have likely been delighted to see the Albanian not included in Thomas Tuchel’s squad for Chelsea’s pre-season tour of the United States.

It is believed the striker will join up with the Blues next week; however, we are interested to see whether this opens up an opportunity for a club to secure his services in the meantime.

Having already been stung on the proposed move for Hugo Ekitike, it will be interesting to see if Dan Ashworth looks to make a swoop for the 20-year-old before he is set to meet up with his Chelsea teammates.
