According to CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs, Newcastle United star Allan Saint-Maximin could be tempted by a move away from the club this summer if an offer comes in.

While a lot of the rumours on transfers around Newcastle are to do with incomings, a rumour around a possible departure has recently emerged in the form of Saint-Maximin, as there is reportedly interest in the Frenchman from multiple Premier League clubs.

The winger has been an integral part of the Tyneside club since his arrival back in 2019, but Jacobs believes he could be interested in a move away from the Magpies if an offer from the likes of potential suitors Tottenham Hotspur or Chelsea comes in.

Jacobs told Steve Wraith on NUFC Matters: “Newcastle would like to tie him down, but it’s all about ASM, and I do think that he might be piqued if an offer comes in.

“Tottenham have certainly made a historical enquiry but they’ve now had a very busy window, so it remains to be seen whether they move, and ASM hasn’t been part of Chelsea’s initial shortlist, but they’re missing out on one or two targets, particularly in the attacking sense.

“There’s not too much substance at the moment, but I think the most interesting thing is, what does ASM want?”

An easy one to start with, where did Newcastle sign Bruno Guimaraes from?

TIF Thoughts on the Saint-Maximin exit rumours…

Saint-Maximin has been hugely important for Newcastle, especially during the Steve Bruce era, where he often carried the weight of their attacking output. But now they have acquired the likes of Bruno Guimaraes and Callum Wilson, that weight has perhaps lessened.

They have also been linked with the likes of Jack Harrison, Harvey Barnes and Lucas Paqueta, so losing a player like Saint-Maximin may now not hurt them as much as it would have a season ago – while they could pick up a decent fee for him.

While Spurs and Chelsea have been linked, neither have made a formal bid as yet and therefore, it remains likely he will stay on the books of the Tyneside club for another season at least. However, there is still a long while to go in the window and with the ferocious spending from the top clubs this summer, anything could happen.
