Newcastle United winger Allan Saint-Maximin has welcomed new signing Sven Botman to the club via Instagram.

Allan Saint-Maximin’s future remains unclear as Newcastle United reportedly see him as a player that they could sell this summer, in order to bring in their desired targets into St James’s Park, whilst abiding by the Financial Fair Play rulings.

The French winger has reportedly been on the radar of Premier League clubs Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea, and his head has supposedly been turned with the opportunity to play in the Champions League next season catching his attention.

Saint-Maximin had a mixed season last term in the Premier League for Newcastle United, he ended the campaign with five goals and five assists in the league, but he only managed to score two goals in the last 15 games of the season.

Despite the future of Saint-Maximin being undecided, the French winger has taken to Instagram to welcome Newcastle’s latest signing Sven Botman to the club, after it he was announced as a Magpies player on a five-year contract.

TIF Thoughts on Allan Saint-Maximin…

Saint-Maximin did not produce amazing numbers last season in terms of goals and assists, but for the majority of the campaign, he did not have players around him of the highest calibre, with the Magpies top scorer being Callum Wilson with eight goals, and he featured just three times this calendar year.

However, with the Magpies’ Saudi takeover they have extended funds, so they can afford to bring in players of a higher calibre, and if Eddie Howe brings in some better attacking talent this summer, we could see an increase Saint-Maximin’s performances.

Albeit, the Magpies have already spent nearly £60 million on players this summer, so if they want to bring in more players before the start of next season, they might have to offload some of the current valuable players, in order to abide with the FFP rules, so it will be interesting to see what happens in the future with the French winger.
