Dean Jones has claimed on The Done Deal Show that Manchester United could sign Ibrahim Sangare this summer.

Man United have been focusing on their summer-long pursuit of midfielder Frenkie de Jong, but with the player still seemingly adamant about not making the move to Old Trafford, nothing appears to be imminent, despite United and Barcelona agreeing on a fee for the Dutchman.

However, he is certainly not their only target who could help bolster Erik ten Hag’s options in the midfield department, and after the arrival of Christian Eriksen, Jones believes Sangare could be brought to the club to play alongside De Jong.

Jones has claimed that with Ten Hag having seen Sangare play for PSV Eindhoven, he could be signed by the Red Devils this summer.

He said: “There’s also guys like Sangare – I think he’s valued at €40 million, maybe even be less than that at PSV – so they could still go in for him.

Who would be better for Man United?

“I wonder if, with Ten Hag, with his Dutch nous, and seeing a player like that up close, he could even sign him and play him with De Jong, never mind instead of De Jong, because they are different types of players.”

TIF Thoughts on links to Sangare…

If Jones is correct that Sangare will cost around €40m (£34.1m), that could see Man United splash out over £100m on a midfield pairing of Sangare and De Jong, which would be a big outlay considering they’ve also already brought in Eriksen.

In this quiz, we will take a look at who topped the club's scoring charts and when. First, who was United's top scorer this season?

However, much like they are doing with this prolonged pursuit of De Jong, if Man United back Ten Hag’s judgement and he wants to bring in Sangare – someone he will have seen play an ample amount of times in the Eredivisie – it would be a statement of intent and point towards a revolution very much underway at Old Trafford.
