Journalist Charles Watts has revealed that Manchester United target Lisandro Martinez is ‘desperate’ for a move this summer.

It has been widely reported that the Ajax defender could be on his way to the Premier League in the near future, with an Erik ten Hag reunion potentially on the cards.

However, Arsenal also have an interest, and multiple bids for the left-sided centre-back have been made. And so it looks as though a saga could develop as two teams try and convince his current side into a sale.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, however, Gunners correspondent Watts has claimed that Martinez could end up pushing Ajax into accepting a bid if the situation drags deep into the summer.

Indeed, the journalist said: “He is absolutely nailed-on, determined to move to the Premier League this summer one way or the other.

“And if Ajax don’t start to move things forward a little bit, as far as I’m aware, he will start very much trying to push for this move to either Arsenal or Manchester United to try and get it done this summer.

“He’s desperate to sign, he’s desperate to make the move to the Premier League. And, you know, he will make that very much known to Ajax as the summer drags on – if they continue not to accept anything.”

TIF Thoughts on Lisandro Martinez and Manchester United…

According to The Mirror, Ajax have put a £43m valuation on the 24-year-old Argentinian, but Manchester United are set to make an offer of £35.3m with a further £4.3m in add-ons – while Watts went on to claim in his video that the Red Devils put forward a formal bid last week.

It remains to be seen as to whether or not that figure would be enough to force Martinez’s club into a sale. If the Dutch outfit reject it and continue to remain stern on the price tag, the defender could be forced into taking matters into his own hands.
