Fabrizio Romano has revealed on his YouTube channel how Manchester United target Antony is pushing for a move.

Man United are now back at their training base in Carrington, and while the signings of Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez have been officially confirmed by the club, they certainly don’t appear to be finished, with deals for Frenkie de Jong and Antony seemingly still being worked on.

However, neither of them appear to be close or easy to complete, with the latter now reportedly having an €80m (£67.1m) price tag, according to Romano, although, from the player’s side of things, he appears more than keen on making the switch and linking up once again with Erik ten Hag.

Romano has revealed that Antony’s representatives are trying to push through a move this summer.

He said: “It’s important to mention that Manchester United, from what I’m told, keep his name in the list. So Erik ten Hag still considers Antony an important target for Man United, but we know that Ajax always asked [for] around €80m. Let’s see if they will decide to negotiate with United or not.

Do Man United need to sign Antony?

“At the moment, there is still no bid, but the agents of Antony, since the beginning of July, they are pushing with Ajax to negotiate with Man United and not to have this stance on the price. So let’s see what Man United and Ajax will do for Antony, but the name is still there in the list for Manchester United.”

TIF Thoughts on Man United’s pursuit of Antony…

While Antony would provide more depth and options in the attacking third for Ten Hag, not to mention being able to carry out tactics and instructions very well having already worked for the Dutch boss, United may be better off putting all their efforts into the pursuit of De Jong.

In this quiz, we will take a look at who topped the club's scoring charts and when. First, who was United's top scorer this season?

This is because if they don’t bring in De Jong, they could well see Fred and Scott McTominay start this season once again, whereas in the final third, the Red Devils already have the likes of Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Anthony Martial who can contribute going forward.
