Fabrizio Romano has dropped a behind-the-scenes claim on Cristiano Ronaldo’s Manchester United future while speaking on his YouTube channel.

The bombshell was dropped earlier in the summer that Ronaldo had informed Man United of his desire to leave the club, which is said to be down to the fact he wishes to continue playing in the Champions League – something the Red Devils won’t be doing this season.

Ronaldo only returned to Man United’s training base on Tuesday with his agent Jorge Mendes for a meeting with the club and Erik ten Hag, as he’s been away from their pre-season tour due to personal reasons.

Romano has now spoken about what was said from Ronaldo’s side in the behind-closed-doors meeting.

“I’m told that in this meeting Cristiano confirmed his idea what he already communicated to the club when he was in Portugal to deal with personal issues, that he wants to leave the club, this was the message also from Jorge Mendes who will try to bring a good proposal to Manchester United.

Should Ronaldo stay at Man United?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

“So they confirmed on Ronaldo’s side their intention to explore the market again to find a solution.

“But I’m told that on Manchester United’s side – Erik ten Hag especially – they’ve been really clear. Erik ten Hag told Cristiano about the project, about the idea of trusting him as the face of the Manchester United team for this new playing style that he will have.

“So Erik ten Hag is trying in every way to change his mind.”

TIF Thoughts on Ronaldo’s situation…

Ronaldo’s future looks very unclear as things stand, as it has since been claimed that these talks have not resolved the matter.

Meanwhile, a move to Atletico Madrid has been rubbished by people in the Spanish capital, and if he wishes to play in the elite European competition, it remains to be seen which side would be willing to take him.

In this quiz, we will take a look at who topped the club's scoring charts and when. First, who was United's top scorer this season?

The Portugal international finished the season as the club’s top scorer and also picked up the Player of the Season award, which should silence any talk of him being the problem at Old Trafford last season, and if that’s not enough, it is claimed that Ten Hag believes the forward could stay and be part of his plans moving forward.
