According to TalkSport’s Alex Crook, Manchester United star man Cristiano Ronaldo will end up staying at the club as his transfer options are a lot slimmer than agent Jorge Mendes believed they were.

One of the biggest rumours surrounding the Red Devils has been the potential departure of star man Ronaldo after the player aired his disappointment at the club following their poor 2021/22 campaign under Ralf Rangnick.

However, a transfer for the Portuguese legend could be hard to complete, as Crook believes he does not have as many suitors as previously thought when his agent, Mendes, initially began to offer him up to other clubs.

Crook said on TalkSport: “I think he stays at Manchester United. I don’t think that he has the options available to him that maybe Jorge Mendes believed were there when he started leaking to the media that Ronaldo wanted out.”

TIF Thoughts on the Ronaldo transfer saga…

So far this summer, Ronaldo has been reportedly offered up to the likes of Chelsea, Napoli and Bayern Munich, but none of the three has accepted any offer to snap up the 37-year-old ahead of next season.

New manager Erik ten Hag believes Ronaldo can offer something to his vision for United next season and also claimed that he could be at the club beyond next season if things go well with the club. There’s no reason why they couldn’t improve as they have recently bought in Tyrell Malacia Christian Eriksen, and reached an agreement for Lisandro Martinez, while they are still on the hunt for Frenkie de Jong.

The Red Devils will not want to lose their striker after he bagged 24 goals and three assists in all competitions and ranked in the 92nd percentile for non-penalty goals per game and in the 87th for progressive carries per game compared to other forwards in the top five leagues (as per FBRef).

At the time of writing, it looks like Crook is correct in that Ronaldo does not have many options, as his latest link, Atletico Madrid, have confirmed they are not interested in signing him. Ronaldo’s destiny certainly looks to be in the Premier League for now.
