Fabrizio Romano has revealed that once certain players have departed, Manchester City will submit a proposal for Marc Cucurella.

The journalist claimed that once City have sold at least one of Nathan Ake and Raheem Sterling – both of whom are linked with moves to Chelsea – they will target Cucurella.

Romano took to his YouTube channel to say: “Once they sell at least one player between Sterling and Nathan Ake – or maybe both of them – at that point, Man City will submit a proposal for Marc Cucurella from Brighton. He’s a top target for Man City.”

The Citizens have certainly had a good summer so far, welcoming Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez to their frontline. And if they complete the signing of Cucurella, they will address another problem of theirs – this time coming in the left-back department.

The Spaniard had a superb debut season for Brighton & Hove Albion in the last campaign after making the move last summer from Getafe, doing more than enough to warrant a move to a club of City’s current stature, with the defender earning plenty of praise – as some pundits remain unsurprised that there is interest from the champions.

However, it appears City will need to shift Ake and/or Sterling before they can even think of welcoming another arrival. According to Romano, Chelsea are scheduled to have direct contact with City to close a deal to sign Sterling, meaning we could see those at the Etihad Stadium dip back into the market very soon.

TIF Thoughts on Marc Cucurella…

Cucurella was one of the signings of the season in the last campaign, and, if he moves once more this summer, he’ll be up there for that accolade again. At City, he would have the chance to progress even further, too. The Brighton full-back has already shown he can compete with the best in his position in the Premier League, and playing under serial winner and compatriot Guardiola can surely only increase his potential.
