Journalist Ben Jacobs believes that Leicester City could get dragged into the bottom half of the table if they start the new Premier League campaign slowly.
The Foxes may have finished eighth last season, but they are the only side in the top flight yet to make a new signing, and amid talk of huge departures, Jacobs has voiced his concern.
Youri Tielemans has been heavily rumoured to make a move to Arsenal all summer, while Kasper Schmeichel is said to be in talks with Ligue 1 outfit Nice ahead of a proposed move to France, according to L’Equipe.
Furthermore, speculation is growing that star man James Maddison would be open to a move to Tottenham Hotspur, with whom he has been linked, and Jacobs feels it could leave the club in a bit of a hole.
Speaking on The Done Deal Show, he said: “If a Spurs up their interest and make an offer, he [Maddison] is a player, I think, that would be pretty open to leaving the King Power Stadium, especially to go and play Champions League football.
“So it’s tough for Leicester, they need incomings, they lack depth, they could get sucked deeply into the bottom half of the table. If Vardy doesn’t score, they’re going to be very reliant on someone else stepping up.
“They are happy with the midfield. The defence, when it’s fit, is fine, but very thin when it isn’t. And they need to resolve the goalkeeper situation as well, so Leicester are going to have a busy second half of the window, but if they don’t start this season well, then they could easily, easily get sucked somewhere near the relegation zone, unfortunately.”

The silver lining with any outgoings is that it could spark a flurry of investment, and while the squad isn’t in any immediate need of TLC, there is something to be said for now being the only club in Europe’s top five divisions not to make a transfer.
The Athletic has relayed that Brendan Rodgers was expecting five or six new players to be brought in this summer, while insider Dean Jones has stressed that could be a worry when it comes to the manager’s future.
All things considered, it certainly seems like a finely balanced scale at present at the King Power, but it could change fairly quickly and drastically.
