Jamie Vardy is being discussed as a ‘last-minute’ option by Chelsea this summer, that’s according to the insider Dean Jones who was speaking on the Chasing Green Arrows YouTube channel.
After reaching an agreement with Inter Milan for the loan of striker Romelu Lukau and the uncertainty surrounding Timo Werner’s future, Thomas Tuchel may well be on the hunt for a replacement and it appears that Vardy has came into the conversation.
Now 35, you would be forgiven for thinking that the former 26-cap England ace will retire upon the expiry of his current deal at the King Power Stadium next summer however, with 15 Premier League goals last season in just over 1800 minutes, Chelsea may see fit to take the chance and move has been touted by Jones.
He said on Friday evening: “I’ve even heard from someone yesterday that Vardy might be on Chelsea’s list as a last-minute back-up for a striker.
“It wasn’t the greatest source in the world but I was like that’s a weird one to just make up like that can’t just come from nowhere. Like you can’t make that up, Vardy to Chelsea. Like that’s got to have some sort of substance in it.”
