Ben Jacobs has claimed that Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans wants to leave the club this summer.

The Belgian has been linked with a move to Arsenal this summer, with Jacobs previously taking to Twitter to state that the midfielder wants the North London club. However, as things stand, with just over a month remaining of the summer transfer window, Tielemans remains a Leicester player.

Speaking about the situation on The Football Terrace’s Done Deal Show, Jacobs said: “Youri Tielemans wants to be gone by the end of the window. He won’t sign a new deal at Leicester unless he absolutely has to right at the end of the window. And, even then, I think he will be reluctant to.”

The situation will certainly worry Leicester, who will want to avoid losing one of their star midfields this summer to what could turn out to be a rival when it comes to the European places next season.

TIF Thoughts on Tielemans…

Tielemans played a consistent role for Leicester last season, featuring in a total of 32 out of 38 Premier League games, scoring six goals and assisting a further four. Losing the Belgian could prove costly for Brendan Rodgers, who will want to see his side bounce back after a disappointing eighth place, and, therefore, outside of the European places last season.

At 25-years-old, Tielemans should be entering his prime years as a midfielder. And, from what Jacobs said, he wants to spend those prime years away from Leicester, and perhaps at a club with higher ambitions.

There’s certainly time for something to happen this summer. Considering the fact that his contract expires next summer, too, Leicester may want to avoid losing him on a free in a years’ time, perhaps opting to let the midfielder depart this summer instead.
