Leeds United could have picked up two injury concerns during Friday’s pre-season friendly with Crystal Palace at the Optus Stadium Perth, with Adam Forshaw and new signing Luis Sinisterra having to subbed off due to injury in the first-half.

This is according to Graham Smyth who is the Chief Football Writer at the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The game was at a stalemate when both Sinisterra and Forshaw had to depart the field of play.

Sinisterra limped off the field of play with his arm round club doctor Rishi Dhand in the 12th minute of Jesse Marsch’s clash with Palace, with Smyth later reporting that it seemed to be a hamstring injury which had caused the Colombian’s substitution.

Spanish forward Rodrigo was chosen to replace Sinisterra, but things got worse for Leeds just over twenty minutes later, when Forshaw also had to be subbed off in the 33rd minute, though he did seem to run off on his own accord unlike the former, suggesting that it may be a precautionary sub rather than anything particularly serious.

Following Forshaw’s substitution Smyth tweeted: “Forshaw running off under his own steam, must be precautionary but he’s got an issue of some sort. Roca on. 0-0”

TIF Thoughts on Smyth’s comments

We believe that the worst thing that could happen in a pre-season friendly is potentially injuring a player for the start of the season, which is what fans of the Whites will be praying against.

Unfortunately, Sinisterra’s injury sounds to be relatively serious, but Leeds fans will be hopeful it is just a strain rather than a season-stuttering injury.

As for Forshaw, it sounds as if his injury was just a small niggle, and he should hopefully have saved himself anytime on the sideline with that substitution.

Nevertheless, injuries plagued Leeds last season, so this will bring back nightmares.
