Journalist and YouTuber Conor McGilligan has expressed his opinion after Leeds United were linked with a transfer for left-back Miguel Gutierrez.
It seems quite likely that the Whites may need to go into the market for a new left-back this summer, and this could be proven true by some fresh rumours.
Indeed, according to reports, the Real Madrid youngster is now a target for Leeds as they have added him to their transfer shortlist.
In response to this news, while speaking on the One Leeds Fan Channel, McGilligan has stated that the player is an ‘exceptional’ talent, but did also express concern over Gutierrez’s age.
He said: “There’s been chat about Gutierrez at Real Madrid today [Tuesday]. Don’t mind that, don’t mind that at all.
“What I will say about Gutierrez is he’s young, he’s very, very young.
“What I would say about Miguel Gutierrez is he’s exceptional when it comes to attributes, but he is very young to be coming into a Premier League system.
“He’s just a Hollywood signing for me, and I hope if he does come in, he’s absolutely fantastic, but I just think there’s so many obvious options out there when it comes to left-back.”
Should Leeds sign Miguel Gutierrez as a new left-back?
TIF Thoughts on Miguel Gutierrez and Leeds…
Still only 20 years of age, Gutierrez spent the bulk of last season playing for Real Madrid Castilla, the Spanish club’s B side.
He did, however, get some minutes with the senior team in the Champions League as well as La Liga, and has a total of 10 first-team appearances.
With that in mind, it’s easy to see why McGilligan seems to be pretty excited by the ‘exceptional’ talent, but still holds some reservations about how quickly he could make the step up to Premier League football with Leeds should a transfer happen.
