Journalist and YouTuber Conor McGilligan has said that the possible transfer of Charlie Taylor to Leeds United is not ‘dead in the water’ just yet.

The Burnley left-back has been tipped to make a possible return to the Whites this summer after his side were relegated from the Premier League last season.

However, as of yet, no deal seems to be close, and with Leeds being linked with other defensive targets such as Real Madrid’s Miguel Gutierrez, supporters may well feel as though a transfer for Taylor isn’t on the cards this summer.

However, McGilligan – who ‘grew up’ with the defender and claims he is ‘a massive Leeds fan’ – has stated that this possible move could yet happen.

Indeed, while speaking on the One Leeds Fan Channel about potential left-back signings, the presenter said: “Charlie Taylor, as I keep saying… that one is not as dead in the water as many people think. And that’s what I will say about that one.”

TIF Thoughts on Charlie Taylor and Leeds

Taylor, of course, used to play for Leeds but may not be remembered so fondly in that part of Yorkshire after he seemed to force an exit away from the club in 2017 when he refused to play a game against Wigan Athletic with his contract running out.

However, a number of seasons have passed since then and the 28-year-old has gone on to prove himself as a trusted option playing at the top level of English football, with 133 Premier League appearances to his name.

With that in mind, it’s not hard to see why Leeds could have an interest in the player. And so perhaps this is one to keep an eye on, especially after this latest claim from McGilligan.

Depending on the fee, Taylor would be a good choice. He’s porven himself in the Premier league, he’s reliable and a much better option than Firpo. Keep in mind that Burney might well have relegation places with Leeds last season. I would buy premiership experienced players every time over non PL experienced players form abroad almost every time. Taylor would be a good common sense buy. His team mate Cornett is a good option too. Think about them plus Gakpo playing for us with the other new lads and a developing youth team ….. it’s a no brainer.
