Journalist Dean Jones has claimed that Leeds United are going to find a replacement for Raphinha in this summer transfer window.

It was recently announced that Leeds had agreed a deal for Raphinha to join Barcelona for a fee in the region of £52.2m, and Jesse Marsch will want to act fast to replace him after he was the Whites’ top scorer in the Premier League last season with 11 goals.

Leeds have already made six new signings this summer, and despite already bringing in the likes of Brenden Aaronson and Luis Sinisterra, who both play in the attacking third of the pitch, it appears Marsch is still keen to add another attacker.

With Raphinha edging ever closer to officially becoming a Barcelona player, Jones spoke to GiveMeSport and claimed that Marsch wants a forward that will lift the fans off their seats and have a similar impact to what the Brazilian had in his two years at Elland Road.

He said: “They’ve made good additions, but the Raphinha replacement is still to come.

“And that’s because they want a forward that’s going to make people sit up and take notice of them and be a little bit more scared of them, I guess.”

TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments…

Leeds have been heavily linked with Charles De Ketelaere and Arnaud Kalimuendo this summer, as Marsch is on the hunt to find someone who can fill the void of goals Raphinha’s departure could create, but trying to persuade this calibre of player to come to Elland Road might prove a difficult task as they have no European football to offer.

Although some of the Leeds faithful might see it as a disaster that they have seen their side lose both Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha in the same transfer window, they have managed to bring in six new players and make a profit, so if Marsch does manage to bring in another top attacker, the window would be surely deemed as a relative success.

I would like to see another attacker brought in but after watching the game against Brisbane Roar we are going to be in deep mud unless Leeds bring in a better defence.
The faces of last season are still not up to defending as they should. I just hope Marsch and Orta finally realise Leeds defence is still the weakest area in the team.
Invest in better players here then another striker and hopefully we will have a better chance.
