Journalist Dean Jones has claimed that Leeds United are now excited about having three first-team wingers available for next season.

Leeds may have seen top scorer Raphinha leave the club this summer for Barcelona, but they have bought Luis Sinisterra from Feyenoord for £22.5m, so Marsch now has Jack Harrison, Daniel James and his new Colombian addition as his wing options for next season.

Charles De Ketelaere has also been heavily linked with a move to Leeds this summer and can play anywhere across the front three. The Belgian attacker scored 14 goals and registered seven assists in the Jupiler Pro League last season for Club Brugge, so he could replace Raphinha in terms of goal contributions.

After Leeds brought in Sinisterra to the club this summer, Jones spoke to GiveMeSport and claimed that the three wide options that Marsch now has available to him in the attack has got the club excited.

He said “They [Leeds] know they’re going to need different options this season.

“And though the roles of those three players are interchangeable, they’re all going to have to fit in in different ways.

“I think that Leeds are excited to have all of them available to them.”

TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments…

After the season that Leeds had last term, there needed to be drastic changes at the club on the pitch, and Marsch has certainly done that by bringing in six new players, so the Whites’ lineup for the first game of the season could be completely different to last term.

The wide men last year for Leeds were primarily Raphinha and Harrison, as James often occupied a role down the middle of the pitch in Patrick Bamford’s absence. However, with Bamford returning to fitness and Marsch potentially bringing in a new striker, James will be able to return to his natural position on the wing, so we can see why Marsch will be upbeat about his squad heading into the final weeks of pre-season.
