Presenter and Leeds United supporter Joe Wainman has claimed that the Whites are way down the pecking order as far as their chances of signing Arnaud Kalimuendo this summer are concerned.

The Independent reported last month that Leeds United had tabled an offer for the Paris Saint-Germain forward, and the Whites could look to continue proceedings as last season’s top scorer Raphinha is on the brink of signing for Barcelona.

Kalimuendo spent last season on loan with RC Lens, where he made 35 appearances in all competitions and netted 13 times for the French side, which has caught the eye of several other clubs across Europe such as Ajax and Newcastle United.

Despite Kalimuendo being linked with a move to Leeds United this summer, Wainman claimed on the JustJoe Football Show that he might favour other clubs who are also interested in him over an Elland Road switch.

He said: “Apparently, Newcastle, Ajax and Atalanta have all made enquires now. I hate to say it, we’re a bit way down the pecking order with some of those clubs.

“I know people don’t want to hear it, but Kalimuendo may favour other options.”

TIF Thoughts on Wainman’s comments…

One of the main attackers linked with a move to Leeds this summer has been Charles De Ketelaere, who could act as a replacement for Raphinha’s goal threat this summer, but he looks like he favours a switch to Milan, who can offer him Champions League football for next season, so Marsch may have to look elsewhere for a replacement for his Brazilian winger.

Although Kalimuendo has been linked with Leeds, Wainman has claimed that he might opt for a move elsewhere, because similar to De Ketelaere, if Ajax can offer the 20-year-old Champions League football or the chance to win a trophy next season, you wouldn’t be surprised if he chose the Dutch giants over Leeds.
