Leeds United expect winger Jack Harrison to stay at Elland Road this summer.

That is according to Dean Jones, who was speaking to This is Futbol about the Whites’ transfer business this summer.

Jesse Marsch has already lost two key players this season, with midfielder Kalvin Phillips departing for Manchester City and winger Raphinha leaving for Barcelona.

Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur have both expressed an interest in Harrison this summer, but Leeds are demanding £35m for the 25-year-old – something which neither club has matched as of yet.

Ben Jacobs claimed last week that the Magpies are expected to make an ‘improved’ offer for Harrison in an attempt to persuade Marsch to part ways with the winger.

And Jones believes that whilst Harrison was not “one of the biggest parts of their project”, Leeds expect him to stay at Elland Road as the club have no intention of selling him.

He said: “They expect him to stay.

“I think they’ve been surprised at just how much talk there’s been about him leaving in this window.

“They’ve never had any intention to sell him.

“But they also didn’t think that he would cause this much fuss, because he’s ultimately not one of the biggest parts of their project.

“But because of that, they thought he would be fine to keep.”

TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments…

We think that Leeds fans will be delighted to hear that Jones believes that Harrison will stay at Elland Road this season, with the club already having faced key departures this summer.

It is surely in Marsch’s interests to keep some players around with experience of playing for the Whites, due to the fact that it has already been a major summer of upheaval at Elland Road, with the club welcoming six new faces to the club this summer.

And therefore, we think that Leeds will resist Newcastle’s next offer, as the club may want to keep some consistency around the place this season.
