Graham Smyth has claimed during a Q&A that people can’t rule out Ezgjan Alioski returning to Leeds United this summer.

Alioski decided to depart Elland Road last summer as a free agent after completing weight season with Leeds, although just one in the Premier League appeared to be enough for the Macedonian international.

However, his move to the Middle East with Al-Ahli hasn’t worked out with the club being relegated from Saudi Arabia’s top division, which in turn, has seen Alisoki become a free agent once again after mutually terminating his deal with the club.

Given Stuart Dallas’ long-term injury, some may be thinking Leeds need to sign a left back this summer and Smyth had the following to say on this situation.

Should Leeds sign Alioski?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

‘We haven’t heard once this summer that the club want another senior left-back. You could never rule out a move for Gjanni Alioski given his close proximity with the club and his history here, but it’s not something that’s being worked on right now.’

TIF Thoughts on a potential Alioski return…

This was a low point in Leeds United's history, but how many points did they get in the 2003/04 campaign?

While a potential reunion may seem good in principle given he does know the club very well and had a great rapport with the fanbase, however, Leeds should surely be thinking more about the future and not looking back into the past.

Alioski is now 30 years old so wouldn’t have many years left in front of him to be playing regularly in the Premier League, coupled with the fact he was a big player under Marcelo Bielsa and thus never played under Jesse Marsch, would point towards it being a potentially poor move if it was to happen.
