Leeds United have made a bigger offer than AC Milan in the pursuit of the services of Charles De Ketelaere this summer.
This is according to the journalist Pete O’Rourke, who has been speaking to This Is Futbol about the Yorkshire side’s transfer plans in the coming weeks.
It is said the Whites have tabled a bid in the region of £31m for the young prospect as they continue to try and bolster their squad having lost Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips.
Leeds have made an electric start to the summer window with six new faces through the door and over £95m already spent with three weeks to go until the start of the new season.
Reports have suggested the Belgian is in favour of a move to the San Siro with AC Milan showing an interest in him, however, O’Rourke feels the decision could be taken out of his hands:
“Leeds have made a bigger offer [than AC Milan] for the Belgian international as well, so it might be taken out of the forward’s hands if Club Brugge says, ‘we want to accept this offer from Leeds United, you might want to move there’.
“A lot will depend on what Milan can offer and what they can bring to the table, because it does seem they’re in the box-seat to land the exciting, young player.”
TIF Thoughts on O’Rourke’s comments…
On the face of it, it does seem as if Leeds are seriously up against it in the fight to land De Ketelaere this summer with the youngster seemingly having his heart set of a move to Milan.
Do you still want Leeds to sign De Ketelaere?
Yes
No
Given they are the reigning Serie A champions and, therefore, have Champions League football to offer for the upcoming campaign, there would be no shame in losing out to them.
Even if Leeds end up in a position where they are able to land De Ketelaere, we do wonder whether signing a player who clearly does not favour the move would be the best decision?
