It’s safe to say that Newcastle and Eddie Howe have struggled to make the breakthrough they desire in the transfer market when it comes to bringing in attacking reinforcements, with none having arrived thus far.
The Magpies have been linked with a whole host of players such as Ivan Toney, Jack Harrison, Anthony Gordon, Amine Gouiri – and most recently, 19-year-old Sesko, who has just one full season of first-team football under his belt at RB Salzburg.
Romano has claimed that the Magpies aren’t alone in liking the striker, as Manchester United also admire the player, and while RB Salzburg didn’t plan to sell the striker this summer, that could soon change.
Are you worried by Newcastle's business?
He said: “There are many clubs well-informed on him, including Newcastle. Many clubs are following this boy. Let’s see [whether] Salzburg will decide if they want to sell the player this summer, because the original plan was to sell Sesko in summer 2023 and not now.
“But, in case top clubs like Manchester United or other Premier League clubs like Newcastle, will decide to be on it, in this case, the situation could change. But as of now, they are following him and remember the name – Benjamin Sesko, really talented boy.”
TIF Thoughts on interest in Sesko…
If Man United are also following Sesko closely, it would suggest that Newcastle have targeted someone with a lot of talent and potential, but despite not having the stature of Man United or being able to offer European football, they may have already stolen a match on the Red Devils.
This is because Sesko’s agent posted a picture on Instagram of him in Newcastle last week, which could suggest that some form of talks have already taken place and a deal may be closer than some people think.
