ExWHUemployee has claimed on The Transfer Show that he’d like to see West Ham sign Kelechi Iheanacho.
West Ham have been heavily tipped to sign a new striker this summer as David Moyes aims to ease the burden on an ageing Michail Antonio, despite the Jamaican international managing to stay relatively injury-free last season.
The Hammers appeared to be closing in on the signing of Armando Broja not too long ago, however, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel poured cold water on that claiming he doesn’t expect the Albanian international to depart Stamford Bridge this summer.
Ex has now claimed that he wouldn’t mind West Ham signing Iheanacho as an alternative this summer.
Would you like West Ham to sign Iheanacho?
(8:40) “I think Iheanacho would also score goals if he moves to another club, I would be willing to go as far as saying if West Ham can’t get a forward over the line, he’s not the greatest one we could get in, but I might give him a shout if all else fails.”
TIF Thoughts on Iheanacho…
Wherever Iheanacho has played his football, whether that be at Manchester City or Leicester City, he’s never been able to nail down a regular starting role, and that wouldn’t likely change if he joined West Ham given Antonio’s consistent role under David Moyes as a striker.
However, if the Hammers can’t land either Broja or Gianluca Scamacca, who they appear to have been chasing for a prolonged period of time now, then someone that’s Premier League proven with 37 goals in 69 starts, could be a decent alternative.
