Tony Scott has blasted Everton’s Tom Davies on the All Together Now podcast for not being good enough at Everton.

The midfielder experienced a frustrating time of things last season as he made just six appearances in the league and was also briefly cut out of Frank Lampard’s squad at Everton, only to luckily get a space after Everton loaned out Jean-Philippe Gbamin once recovering from injury.

Davies has featured for Everton in their pre-season friendlies, but with just one-year remaining on his current deal, it remains to be seen as to whether he is truly part of Lampard’s plans for the season ahead.

Scott clearly believes he shouldn’t be after what he saw from the midfielder in their pre-season win over Blackpool at the weekend.

He said: “Tom Davies is not good enough. We’ve seen it [for] years and years of performances, we see one half-decent game in every 10, not Premier League standard, in my opinion.

Is Tom Davies good enough for Everton?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

“Everything I’ve seen on Sunday [is] what I’ve seen in the past five or six years, and that just leaves a big gaping hole for Everton to receive the ball.”

TIF Thoughts on Davies’ future…

It had been reported last summer that Newcastle United were interested in a move for Davies, with one of their own heading the other way to Goodison Park in the form of Sean Longstaff, but he’s since signed a new contract which would likely rule out a move.

While Scott may not believe that Davies is good enough for the Premier League, if Everton aren’t able to land a new midfielder for Frank Lampard’s system and style of play, the midfielder may well have to be a regular fixture in this Everton team moving forward, which clearly wouldn’t please Scott.
