Journalist Greg O’Keeffe has been speaking on the All Together Now podcast about Everton transfer target Guido Rodriguez.

Everton have struggled somewhat to make significant moves in the transfer window this summer, having only been able to lure free agent James Tarkowski to Goodison Park thus far, despite selling Richarlison for £60m.

However, they are seemingly closing in on a move for Ruben Vinagre, although that doesn’t help solve their midfield issue, having seen two departures in that area, although things could be starting to ramp up, with reports suggesting they are now interested in Rodriguez.

O’Keeffe believes that he could be the player that fits into Lampard’s system.

Will Everton make a signing this week?

He said: “Of course, there’s been the Guido Rodriguez link – a holding midfielder at Real Betis who perhaps does fit the bill of what Frank Lampard wants. I don’t think this sort of avalanche of names is going to stop anytime soon.”

TIF Thoughts on Everton interested in Rodriguez…

It appears that Everton are finally starting to kick into action this summer with their interest in Rodriguez coupled with their £20m bid for Dwight McNeil, which would see them instantly improve two key areas of the pitch.

Which of these Serie A stars did the Toffees miss out on?

While splashing big money on two players with just one departure thus far in the window may be difficult for Everton, if they wish to avoid a repeat of last season, Lampard has to be sufficiently backed, so taking the hit on a midfielder and attacking player could be the best way to ensure they start the season strongly.
