The Mirror’s Darren Lewis still expects Harry Winks to land at Everton in this summer’s transfer window.

Lewis has been discussing the 26-year-old’s future on the Last Word On Spurs YouTube channel to discuss the future of players such as the English midfielder.

The Toffees had been heavily linked with the Tottenham Hotspur man earlier this summer, with Winks – valued at £20mexpected to depart N17 in the coming weeks.

However, there have been some suggestions that Frank Lampard’s side have withdrawn from the race to sign Winks this summer as they focus on other targets.

Despite this, Lewis believes Winks is still a player who could well end up playing his football at Goodison Park this coming season, with the Toffees still to bring in a new central midfielder:

He said: “I think Winks will go to Everton.

“I remember covering Conte’s Chelsea side, and they had a lot of quality, but they were also very physical as well. And I think if you look at the midfielders [Spurs] have, they all have that about them. And perhaps, he [Conte] doesn’t think that Winks has got that. It’s a shame, but I think he’ll move him on. And I think Everton will sign him.”

TIF Thoughts on Lewis’ comments…

One thing which is apparent is that Winks is not in the plans of Antonio Conte for the upcoming season, with the 26-year-old playing no role in the pre-season friendlies.

Would Winks improve Everton's midfield?

Winks was even left at home for Tottenham’s pre-season trip to South Korea, and it seems his only shot at playing football this season is by moving away from north London.

He has certainly struggled in recent seasons for game time at Spurs, however, perhaps a fellow midfielder in Lampard could help revive his career.
