Greg O’Keeffe has claimed that ‘all signs are pointing towards’ Everton target Conor Gallagher staying at boyhood club Chelsea this summer.

Speaking on The All Together Now Podcast, O’Keeffe said: “I’d say it’s not looking good for Everton or any club that wants him at the moment. All signs are pointing towards him staying in West London.”

The news will leave Everton fans frustrated, with the Toffees welcoming just one new name through the door this summer in the form of James Tarkowski on a free from Burnley. With just over a month left until the summer transfer window slams shut, too, those at Goodison Park haven’t got long left to finalise their business.

Gallagher would have been an ideal signing for the Merseyside club; he would likely have offered them what Dele Alli was supposed to offer last season. Looking at goal contributions, for example, Gallagher managed eight goals and three assists whilst on loan at Crystal Palace last season.

Meanwhile, Alli managed one goal and zero assists throughout the entirety of last season at Tottenham Hotspur and Everton.

TIF Thoughts on Gallagher…

With time still left in the transfer window, anything could still happen, especially once the Premier League campaign gets underway, and the plan of managers becomes much clearer. If Gallagher doesn’t get the game-time that he desires under Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea, then perhaps a move would be in his best interests.

As for Everton, they’ll know how important it is to welcome more reinforcements before the start of the season. One thing they will be desperate to avoid is another season battling relegation.
