Dharmesh Sheth has dropped a worrying claim on the Transfer Talk podcast about Manchester United’s priorities this summer.

Man United and their fans were seemingly rocked over the weekend as news emerged of Cristiano Ronaldo wanting to leave the club this summer, with some reports claiming that it was largely down to the fact he will see his pay reduced by 25% and the lack of signings being made at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils have responded to the claim by suggesting they are not open or even actively looking to sell 37-year-old Ronaldo this summer, instead, they appear to be keen on improving their forward line, but not necessarily through the middle.

Sheth has claimed that despite Ronaldo’s potential departure, Man United are not looking to sign an out-and-out striker.

(13:00) “I think Ten Hag if Ronaldo was to go, will want to bring someone in and as I mentioned before, the priority for Man United is to strengthen the forward line rather than bringing in a number nine.

Will Ronaldo leave Man United?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

“I just wonder whether now this has changed everything, as Rafa [Raphael Honigstein] said, all the good ones have gone so who are they actually going to sign.”

TIF Thoughts on Man United’s attacking situation…

While some people claimed that Ronaldo was often the problem for Man United last season as they failed to win any silverware and finished outside of the top four, he did finish as their Player of the Season and top goalscorer.

In this quiz, we will take a look at who topped the club's scoring charts and when. First, who was United's top scorer this season?

However, if his heart isn’t fully into the club and rebuild Erik ten Hag has on his hands at Old Trafford, which is understandable at 37, it could be best to try and ship him off their wage books as soon as possible and bring in someone younger who could potentially play out wide or through the middle, a bit like Marcus Rashford.

Ronaldo knew last April that there would be a drop in wages and he wouldn’t be in the CL with United next season so I seriously doubt he wants out because of that. No fact is he and De Gea carried the team last season as it became obvious some wheren’t interested or up to the job of playing for United. And the way the club has handled transfers since shows they both would have to do so again, so he is probably thinking “Yeah, no I am not doing that again”. He’s a winner with a winners mentality and he wants to be surrounded by like minded individuals not a bunch of money grabbing whingers.
