According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal will not be looking to sign Raphinha this summer as the club does not want to get into a bidding war for the Brazilian, but they will continue to monitor the situation.

While Arsenal has impressed in the summer transfer window so far, signing Fabio Vieria and Gabriel Jesus, they have also been linked with Leeds and Brazil star man Raphinha, who impressed at the Whites last season.

However, it appears that the Gunners have fallen out of the race for the player after Chelsea agreed on terms with the club to sign him. Romano believes this is because the club are not interested in a battle for Raphinha.

He said on the Fabrizio Romano YouTube channel, “Arsenal have been into it since last Tuesday, they were well informed on the situation, but they do not want to do a bidding war. They want to see what happens between Chelsea and Barca. But Arsenal have no intention to go into a bidding war.” (4:03)

TIF Thoughts on Romano’s comments…

The deal for the Brazilian has been a messy one so are ith it reported Chelsea has agreed to a deal with Leeds to sign the player but hasn’t agreed on terms with Raphinha, while Barcelona has agreed on terms with the player but not with Leeds. For this reason alone it is easy to see why Arsenal have distanced themselves from a potential move.

While Raphinha would be a welcomed addition and an upgrade to the Arsenal squad, getting involved in a headache like the transfer situation he currently finds himself in does not seem worth it for the club. The North London outfit is concentrating on signing defender Lisandro Martinez from Ajax, which is a more important area of concern for them as they have already signed two attacking players in Vieira and Jesus.

It is unsure where Raphinha could end up, but with the current state of both Barcelona and Chelsea, there is every possibility both fail and then it could open up a chance for Arsenal to swoop. Definitely keep your eyes on this saga.
