Journalist James McNicholas has stated that he expects Arsenal to make at least one more signing this window and it will likely be a winger.

Up to this point in the summer, the Gunners have already completed deals for the likes of Matt Turner, Gabriel Jesus, Fabio Vieira and Marquinhos.

On top of that, it looks as though Oleksandr Zinchenko is set to make the switch to north London next, with Arsenal and Manchester City close to finalising a transfer.

According to McNicholas, though, the Gunners won’t stop just yet either, with The Athletic journalist claiming that another player in the mould of Raphinha will be targeted next.

Indeed, while speaking on the Arsecast Extra podcast, he said (55:29): “I don’t think Zinchenko is the end of Arsenal’s business. I think they will sign at least one other player.

“If I had to put a position on it, I think it will be a winger. I think it will be a Raphinha alternate.”

TIF thoughts on Arsenal and their transfer plans…

It was well known that Arsenal were very keen on trying to sign Raphinha from Leeds United, and even had an offer for him rejected.

With the club evidently so keen on trying to sign the Brazilian, it’s clear that Mikel Arteta and Edu feel as though a new winger is needed this summer. And so it’s no shock to hear McNicholas make his prediction.

But with Raphinha now joining Barcelona instead, the Gunners will have to turn their attention elsewhere – though it remains unclear as to who that next target could be.

However, one name that has been linked is Lucas Paqueta. The Lyon man isn’t quite a winger, but he could provide some extra depth when it comes to adding creative quality to the team.
