Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Arsenal are in negotiations with Bukayo Saka over an extended contract.

When the Gunners missed out on Champions League football worry began to mount over what it might mean for the future of Saka in north London.

The 20-year-old now just has two years left on his current contract and with Manchester City ‘keeping an eye’ as well as Liverpool holding an interest it will be a growing concern for Mikel Arteta.

However, as claimed by Harry Symeou at the end of June on the Talking Transfers podcast (21:55), the England international’s representatives are said to have been happy with how the club are going about their business this summer.

After the arrivals of Gabriel Jesus and Fabio Vieira, the club are working on a deal to bring Oleksandr Zinchenko to the club and that ambition could see the Emirates Stadium outfit secure the most important deal of all this summer as alluded to by Romano.

Speaking on the Que Golazo YouTube channel on Friday he said:

(13:59)”Let me say that another thing I was told a few hours ago about Arsenal is that not let’s not forget about Bukayo Saka contract because this is a priority for Arsenal this summer and now signing new contracts for this kind of top players like Bukayo Saka what happened with Mo Salah at Liverpool is like signing a new player it’s not just the contract extension but it’s like signing a new player.

“So Bukayo Saka extension is really important for Arsenal. They are on it, they are negotiating with agents.”

Tying down the 14-cap ace will most certainly be like a new signing at London Colney for Arteta and his side given the importance of brokering a new deal.

The £58.5m-rated finished as the side’s top scorer last season with 12 goals and ranked second for assists (7) further signifying his role in the squad and given the calibre of players that Edu and his recruitment team are targeting it could lift Arsenal back into the top four further enticing the youngster to commit his future.
