GOAL’s Arsenal correspondent Charles Watts has hailed the club’s approach of Oleksandr Zinchenko.
It was exclusively revealed by David Ornstein that the Gunners are ‘working on a deal’ to sign the Manchester City ace.
Ornstein claimed that City were open to selling the 25-year-old so long as his valuation is met and that manager Mikel Arteta now saw the Ukrainian as his ‘priority’ having missed out on Lisandro Martinez who looks destined for Manchester United.
Taking to Twitter Watts praised the developments and said:
Zinchenko just makes so much sense.

TIF Thoughts on Zinchenko and Arsenal…
Would you take Oleksandr Zinchenko at Arsenal?
Yes
No
Indeed it certainly seems like a logical mover for the north London club considering the variety of positions Zinchenko could cover.
While he would not be able to play centre-back like Martinez the £22.5m-rated dynamo was signed as a centre-midfielder by the Premier League champions but has operated predominantly at left-back for the club which will be a God-send for Arteta considering Kieran Tierney’s persistent injury trouble.
Moreover, the 52-cap Ukraine ace as been an major influence on the international scene captaining his country and starring in the middle of the park.
After his country’s World Cup play-off win over Scotland back in June, Sky Sports pundit Graeme Souness heralded Zinchenko’s display insisting that he ‘ran the show’ and he can be a ‘really, really good’ midfield player.
He continued by suggesting that the four-time Premier League winner was the ‘catalyst’ in possession and looked like a ‘seasoned’ centre-midfielder.
Arteta will know all to well about his ability having been assistant to Pep Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium and after securing the signature of Gabriel Jesus from his former boss perhaps at the right price he can nab another.
