Star free agent Christian Eriksen is holding out on his summer transfer decision, with Manchester United and Brentford leading the race, to see what other possible offers come in, according to CBS Sports man Ben Jacobs.

It has been reported the Red Devils and West London outfit Brentford are the front runners to land the former Tottneham Hotspur and Bees star Eriksen, but with no deal accepted from there Dane yet, speculation for why has risen.

Jacobs believes that Eriksen has yet to make his decision because their are other offers on the table for the player, including another Premier League side in Leicester City and he believes Eriksen is undecided so far.

He said on the Done Deal podcast, “Leicester are interested, no formal at this stage. I think Eriksen is partially delaying simply because of the volume of Premier League clubs that are still circling… Manchester United remain confident, there is no truth that Eriksen has rejected Manchester United, but he’s waiting to see both what materialises in the market for Manchester United.

“But also if any other clubs come into the mix… I genuinely believe at this stage he is undecided, it’s probably accurate to say still Manchester United and Brentford are the two front runners just because of the lack of other formal bids.” (51:02)

TIF thoughts on Jacob’s comments…

After Eriksen’s impressive form after he signed for Brentford back in January 2022 it is obvious that he would indeed have a number of offers on the table outside of just Manchester United and Brentford.

Last season he bagged one goal and four assists in 11 appearances for the Bees while averaging 1.8 shots, 2.2 key passes, 2.1 crosses, and 4.3 long balls per game with 80.9% passing accuracy. According to Fbref the Dane also ranked in the 99th percentile for assists and shot creating actions, and the 93rd for progressive passes per game.

Not only did Eriksen shine last season, playing a significant role in Brentford’s survival and showing the world he can still play at a high level after his horrible accident at Euro 2020, he is also available on a free deal and therefore would be a steal got the lucky team that he chooses.
