Tottenham Hotspur are still hopeful of completing a deal for Middlesbrough’s Djed Spence in the coming weeks.

This has been suggested by Charlie Eccleshare from The Athletic who was discussing the latest Spurs transfer news on the Last Word on Spurs YouTube channel.

Spurs have been heavily linked with the 21-year-old right wing-back for months now after a brilliant campaign with Nottingham Forest in the Championship.

However, reports are claiming Spence’s parent club, Boro, are growing frustrated with a move for the youngster failing to pick up much momentum in the recent weeks.

Yet, the reliable Spurs correspondent remains optimistic the north London club will be able to get this proposed deal over the line this summer:

“I mean, right wing-back, I still think Djed Spence will eventually get done,” said Eccleshare.

“But yeah, I think Djed Spence is still you know, if I had to make a make a guess on who the right wing-back will be, that would be my educated guess based on what I’ve been told.”

TIF Thoughts on Eccleshare’s comments…

We are interested to see how Spence’s future pans out given reports are also claiming Forest remain well within the picture to still make a push for their former loanee.

Should Spurs move on from Spence?

No

No

However, we would imagine Spurs will still prove the most attractive proposition given the prospect of playing Champions League football and working with Antonio Conte.

Spence has been given an extended holiday before being set to return to Teeside next week, we do wonder if this is a sign a deal could be finalised before next Monday?
