Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Joe Rodon has not seen reported interest from the Serie A side, Roma, come to fruition.

This has been suggested by the Spurs correspondent Alasdair Gold whilst speaking on his YouTube channel to discuss the latest transfer news.

It has been suggested Fabio Paratici has held talks in recent days with Roma over a possible reunion between Jose Mourinho and the Welsh defender.

The majority of Rodon’s 24 appearances for Spurs came under the Portuguese manager with Mourinho offering the 24-year-old 13 appearances across all competitions.

However, having checked in with those close to the Spurs defender, Gold claims there is nothing in line currently to see Rodon follow his former manager to the Italian capital:

“I think there’s a few clubs interested in him. I saw some talk of Roma being interesting. I’m told from people around him that that hasn’t really come to anything at this point. But I wouldn’t be surprised if it does at any point because Jose [Mourinho] liked him, he did.”

TIF Thoughts on Gold’s comments…

We do find Rodon’s time at Spurs a real mystery with the centre-back failing to make any impression on the multiple Spurs managers across his two seasons in north London.

What should Spurs do with Rodon?

Keep

Loan

Sell

Sell

Obviously, the numerous Spurs managers get to see a lot more of Rodon than the fans do so it is hard to disagree with his lack of game time.

However, despite his lack of game time for his club, Rodon does retain his spot in the Wales national side and helped to guide his country to this year’s World Cup.

So we do think it could be beneficial for Spurs to seek a season-long loan deal for Rodon to assess where his long-term future may lie and a possible reunion with Steve Cooper could be a great option.
