Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane is waiting to see how the club fares in the summer window before committing to a new deal.
This is what the transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has suggested on Chris Cowlin’s YouTube channel when discussing the 28-year-old’s future in north London.
However, Romano believes a lot still depends on how Spurs spend in the coming months with Kane said to be encouraged by the financial injection shown from the owners the other week.
With Antonio Conte expected to stay in north London, it seems the striker is just waiting to see whether Spurs are able to spend their transfer funds wisely before putting pen to paper:
“I was asking one week ago before the Champions League final and the answer I received is pretty clear; it’s not something imminent.
“So I think also Harry Kane wants to wait. I see Kane and Conte really on the same page and the same position. They want to see the real ambition from Tottenham on the market this summer to see how will be the project this summer. So I think it will take some time before we see Harry to sign a new deal.”
TIF Thoughts on Romano’s comments…
Would a new Kane deal be bigger than any signing?
Kane has enjoyed a good run of form under Conte who helped to turn around the dreadful start to the campaign Kane made under Nuno Espirito-Santo.
With Conte at the club and potentially some big signings from the £150m made available by ENIC, there are high expectations for Spurs already and we think Kane signing a new deal could possibly be the biggest move made by Spurs this summer.
