Tottenham Hotspur target Alessandro Bastoni’s agent could well be laying the groundwork for a summer switch to the north London club.

The reliable Spurs journalist Alasdair Gold has spoken on his latest YouTube video to discuss the Italian’s potential move to the Lilywhites.

Spurs are being heavily linked with the Italian this summer but there is the belief that Bastoni would be keen to remain at the San Siro with Inter Milan.

And amid the reports, Bastoni’s agent has emerged on Friday with some fresh comments on where his client’s future may lie: “He [Bastoni] is certainly a big fan of the team he plays for, so he will happily remain at Inter,” the agent told Sportitalia (via Daily Mail).

“However, he is also a professional. This is football and he has to adjust. It’s clear he is very happy to play for Inter and feels this jersey like a tattoo on his skin.”

With Bastoni having just two years remaining on his current deal, Gold believes his agent could well be making it apparent to the Inter fans that Bastoni may have no other choice but to leave:

“Interesting little slight development with that one. Look, in essence, we’re still in that same scenario, in terms of Spurs don’t really foresee any issue with the fee or the wages or anything like that. The issue obviously comes with the player not being particularly, you know, desperate to move away from Inter Milan.”

“So what this feels like to me [agent’s comments], just in my opinion, this feels like different people manoeuvring themselves into positions of not being the bad guy, which is completely understandable.”

“But I do feel like his agent now is kind of saying look, he loves the club. But if it ends up he has to go, he has to go”

TIF Thoughts on Gold’s comments…

We have to agree with Gold’s thinking here. Reports suggest Inter are looking to bring in Gleison Bremer and Romelu Lukaku which may be a struggle given their financial issues.

Are you now confident of Bastoni joining?

With this in mind, Bastoni could be the obvious choice to help fund these deals with it reported Spurs would need to cough up around £51m for the defender.

And given the centre-back is an Inter fan, it does almost feel like his agent is putting in the groundwork to shift the blame in case Inter feel they need to accept Tottenham’s approach.

If the latest news on the Bastoni transfer is true and Inter are now asking for £60 Million for him? Then I would rather we went for Bremer (He’s supposedly £30 Million) then we could in effect get Bremer, Spence AND Maximin for near enough the same price
