Leeds United: Fabrizio Romano issues exciting De Ketelaere transfer claim

|

Leeds United now have their eyes on the potential summer addition of the Club Brugge youngster Charles De Ketelaere.

This is what the transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has claimed when discussing the Yorkshire club’s summer movements on the Que Golazo YouTube channel.

It has been a busy start to the summer window for Jesse Marsch’s side who have already seen three new faces come through the doors at Elland Road.

However, Leeds are now expected to lose Kalvin Phillips and potentially Raphinha, too, and it seems the powers that be are not looking to hang around in finding replacements for Marsch.

Romano believes one of the targets high on the list for Victor Orta is the 21-year-old De Ketelaere who has played across a number of positions for Club Brugge already:

“A name I will keep an eye on is Charles De Ketelaere. This great talent from Brugge because AC Milan are on him since long time.

“Yeah, he can play many positions behind the striker also many positions. And so he’s a very interesting player. And I’m told that it’s very high on the list for Leeds.”

TIF Thoughts on Romano’s comments…

De Ketelaere has certainly already shown a lot of versatility playing in his homeland but the majority of his action has come from the centre-forward spot.

Would De Ketelaere be a smart signing from Leeds?

Yes

No

No

And it was an impressive 2021/22 campaign for the youngster who was able to provide 14 goals and seven assists in the Belgian top-flight (via Transfermarkt).

So there certainly seems to be a lot of potential to be built on with De Ketelaere, however, if Raphinha is to leave and he joins, the 21-year-old would be looked at as an outlet to help fill the void in front of goal left by the Raphinha.
