Rangers Review writer Jonny McFarlane thinks that there will be clubs interested in signing Ryan Kent this summer – some of which could be in Germany.

The explosive winger enjoyed another productive campaign at Ibrox. Despite scoring just three goals, he created a further 20 for his teammates in 45 appearances in all competitions.

In the knockout stages of their Europa League run, the 25-year-old was particularly prominent, contributing to five goals in all – three of which came against German opposition, which is where McFarlane has suggested Kent could end up.

Speaking on the Rangers Review YouTube channel, he said: “I don’t have any information on Ryan Kent’s current situation. I know the club are pretty relaxed on the contracts, the players, where they stand at the moment.

“I’m certain there’ll be interest in Ryan Kent.

“I was speaking to someone who worked in football this morning [Wednesday], talking about how perfect he is for the Bundesliga, how he performed against the Bundesliga sides. It would be remarkable to me if there wasn’t interest from Germany in Ryan Kent just on the basis of that.”

TIF Thoughts on Kent and Rangers…

It certainly would be interesting to see the Englishman rock up in the Bundesliga given the success of Jadon Sancho, Jude Bellingham and Reiss Nelson over there in recent seasons.

With his contract expiring next summer, Rangers are going to need to make a decision urgently.

They will need to either ship the £12.6m-rated forward out or get him to sign a new deal, although there is uncertainty over the futures of a few Rangers stars such as Alfredo Morelos, so that may also have to go into their thinking.

How well do you remember where Rangers' signings came in from down the years? Take our quiz to find out! First up, Carlos Pena was the Gers' most expensive arrival during the summer of 2017, but where did he join from?

It is not known which clubs would be interested in signing him, especially since Leeds United were at the forefront of the rumours prior to Marcelo Bielsa’s departure earlier this year – although Football Insider did suggest in March that he was still on the Yorkshire club’s radar.

As McFarlane suggested, there will surely be potential suitors lining up to snatch the Oldham-born star, who spearheaded the Light Blues to their 55th league title last season.

He scored 13 goals and contributed with 15 assists during the 2020/21 campaign, and transfer insider Dean Jones has previously hinted that he would like to take his career elsewhere – but whether the opportunity to ply his trade in Germany arises or not remains to be seen.
