Rangers Review writer Jonny McFarlane isn’t expecting the club to lose players to former assistant coach Michael Beale.
The 41-year-old arrived in Glasgow back in 2018 alongside Steven Gerrard and worked under the Liverpool icon having worked together at the Merseyside club in an underage role.
After a third-place finish prior to their arrival, the duo led the Gers to back-to-back runners-up positions before eventually ending Celtic’s stranglehold on the Scottish Premiership title.
However, when Gerrard left back in November Beale followed suit as they set off for Villa Park but now having played the role of no.2, the “London boy” was appointed head coach at QPR on a three-year contract.
Having built a strong rapport with the Light Blues before his departure it had been put to McFarlane that perhaps some players may move south to Loftus Road but the journalist has played down those suggestions.
Speaking on the Rangers Review YouTube channel, he said:
“That would seem to me to be quite unlikely based on what I know about QPR.
“But listen, as I say, you don’t know, they could be turning around saying, ‘we’re going to put money behind it’, and money talks a lot of the time in football.
“We’ll have to see, but I would expect Michael Beale probably to be shopping in a slightly less expensive market than some of these Rangers players who might be going out the door.”

TIF Thoughts on Rangers players going to QPR…
A report from the Mail Online back in October suggested that the west London club were on the right track and even though promotion never materialised perhaps the appointment of Beale is a signal of intent and they will throw their weight around as McFarlane hinted.
However, it could be safe to assume that the Gers high-end players such as Ryan Kent, Alfredo Morelos, Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey would all have their eyes set on a Premier League switch if they were to cross the border and that they wouldn’t sacrifice European football for the lottery of the Championship despite a probable hike in wages but it will certainly be interesting to see how this one develops.
As a QPR fan I would say it’s very unlikely that QPR could afford any Rangers players , QPR have to very careful about ffp , they already have Stefan Johannson on a higher wage and probably will have to sell a key player this summer .
